The same issue cause some files to be reported by the PS3 as "Corrupted data"
or "Data unsupported" and playback never starts.
I could fix this problem by updating the included mencoder.exe and
mencoder_mt.exe with the latest version avaiable right now
(MPlayer-p4-svn-32735 and MPlayer-p4-svn-32735-mt from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/). But it causes another
issue to arise, subtitles do no work with the latest mencoder :S
The other way to fix it is to remux the problematic files, but it is tedious
and as MKV points out, the problem lies in the player... the header compression
is a feature that should be supported as it is part of MKV specifications !

Oh.. the issue with subtitles when using this updated version of mencoder lies
in ASS/SSA support. I don't know how to fix it, so I just disabled it in PS3
Media Server settings by unticking "ASS/SSA Subtitles" in the "Transcoding
Settings" tab for "mencoder", hope this helps and I with ASS/SSA could be fixed
as the rendering of subtitles with this feature is better and more flexible.

Thanks for the update mr.icepick, updating mencoder.exe works fine, however, i
can't find the mencoder_mt.exe file in "MPlayer-p4-svn-32735-mt" but the ps3
mediaserver works fine except after disabling ASS/SSA subtitles in ps3 mencoder
settings, the subtitles are quit big. Do you or someone else have a solution
for that? Thanks in advance for your help with this.
