All gather points on keep by default #1043

Every game I typically spend some time placing some or all gather points on my keep (except horses, obviously). It's always the same sequence of pressing 1, click, 2, click, 3, click, ... on the center of my keep.

My dream: Have a UCP option such that when a game starts, all (appropriate) gather points are already on the keep: Barracks, mercenaries, engineers, tunnelers, monks. (Similar to when bots recruit any unit: Those units stack in the center of the keep.)

Gameplay-wise, this is convenient if units are needed on the keep fast (because you don't need to find, select and move them on the keep explicitly), and this would avoid the chance that a new unit chooses a stupidly long path to get to its default gather point (which is very unlikely to happen if the gather point is on the keep).

I understand the first part of your idea, but I don't understand:

or if new units tend to choose a stupid path to get to the barracks etc.

What behavior do you mean? And what would you like to see changed?

Thanks for noting that, I missed the word "avoid" and edited my post. In that second part I meant that it would be convenient to avoid having the chance of units walking to the barracks using a stupidly long path, which tends to happen especially if the available paths in the castle are narrow and full of other units. It's a detail that I personally find annoying and it would no longer occur if units go to the keep instead, as I proposed.

Ah now I understand which mechanism you want see changed. The consequence will be that units on the same tile will walk slower. But I guess this is preferred over taking a longer route!
