It aint that hard to add. Could add it as an option if there is a need.

Why should I build apple farms if dairy farms not only make leather armor but also give more food?

Hacksuelze commented 4 years ago

Do the tower engines have a lower range on this middle towers?

GRhin commented 4 years ago

Um... just so you know the apple farms are meant to be the best production per worker, so dairy farm being worse is intended, basically each farm excels in one area: apples best per worker, wheat best per farm, dairy can make leather armour from or throw dead cows, hops get beer for popularity. Based on this I dont think the dairy needs a buff. As for turning player keep, yes, so much yes, I very much dislike how it is now...

Ok i can understand that part with the dairy farm. I just always saw it as if u have low population you use applefarms and if have high population you are basically forced to use bread to be effective and i felt like there should be something in the middle. The mangonels looks awesome. I would be super happy if that was added because im tired of always using the 2 big towers for siege engines

In future, please put different ideas in different issues.

Dairy farm vs. apple orchards:

Pro:

Con:

It is funny, that (iirc) the ingame help states that the dairy farm is more efficient. What also kinda bothers me is the fact, that in stronghold (where the basic balancing for the game happened) you could build the dairy farm on less fertile land! This was the (in my opinion) most useful thing of the dairy farm! This was taken in Crusader (because this average fertile land does not exist anymore?). So I am kinda for buffing the dairy farm. I am already able to change the quantity delivered, but idk.

Keep

The keep thingy I don't know. Does the AI really change from what you set in the map editor?

Religion

I don't think the blessing thing would help the religion (and the highlighting part might be extremely hard using our current techniques). I think the real problem is, that the priests go to suicide missions outside the castle, following a remote woodcutter to work. There are different issues regarding how to change religion mechanic.

Siege Equipment on middle tower

I really dislike the idea. This is really good and cheap defense. I then would (for effectiveness) prefer two of these towers instead of one of the large towers. But hey, if it is already done and an option, why not...

Fear Factor

I don't think anybody will change something when there is no reason why...

Good point about diary farm. I like the idea of allowing them on less fertile land.

Pro:

  • you can produce leather armor (but you really don't need this many for it)
  • throwing cows (is this useful? I never bothered. Also the AI does not care.)
  • smaller building size (even though the building size for apple farms in Crusader is screwed)

Con:

  • almost useless for food production
  • more expensive building

  1. i also like the idea of allowing dairy farms on less fertile land.
  2. The keep of the AIs always face to the middle of the map, but not the keep from the players. In multiplayer it can really make a difference considering the building space, so I really would like to activate that for the player keeps aswell
  3. i can understand if thats too hard or useless
  4. i personally would like to be able to build it on these towers and if someone doesnt like it they could just uncheck the box in the patch
  5. well its more something to try out then actually be usefull in game
GRhin commented 4 years ago

The ai keeps are definately a big benefit, especially if you can make the quarries rotate the same. Then a mirrored map is actually balanced. As it is these seemingly minor differences can add up. Ox workers being forced to walk further around a quarry can require an extra worker to keep up, quarries being harder to place efficiently, longer travel times for workers to get to stockpile (stockpile can be moved which instead adds time and potentially lost resources), campfire being easier targeted by opponent, the list goes on.

Uh, i love those posts with multiple ideas Bildschirmfoto 2021-01-12 um 03 49 10 I think recruiting priest would be cool, with a maximum limit per religious building. Also, the player should be the one to place the first stockpile.

GRhin commented 3 years ago

The problem with them is it gets messy trying to discuss multiple suggestions in one thread.

LeSpec commented 3 years ago

If you split those into issues, imagine Russianstory's #273 would be all over the place. More detailed discussions that go beyond throwing ideas and what you like or dislike on the other hand, yes.

GRhin commented 3 years ago

273 is all over the place, nothing can be discussed everything gets lost, because nobody wants to look through that to see if theres anything worth trying to implement. The entire thread may as well not exist. If they were split out, it would not be "everywhere", it would have each discussion consolidated and easily followed, each idea easily found, and devs could actually see some and go "yea, I like that, I might look into trying it". And suggestions that are duplicates, or already done, can be closed off and stop getting in the way of everything else.
