UX: Learning of game #5

If the game is supposed to be for blind users who can't see at all rather to be just over the legal threshold for legal blindness, several things have to be investigated. 1) How to teach them the game? Do they use some form of a screen reader? 2) How do they know where to start? They would not be able to see the green zone. They would not know that they are supposed to follow a path that consists of multiple S-bends. They do not know to start at the bottom right corner. Etc. (Further issues could be identified with actual blind users. I am not aware how they use touch-screen phones. But I do know it is possible.)

1) Possibly, alternatively, perhaps a sighted person could provide some initial guidance? 2) The instructions say to start at the bottom and make your way to the top. You don't need to see the green zone or the right path - you can determine it via trial and error - building a mental map of the maze as you go.

  1. Independence is a beautiful thing. So it would be much cooler if they could use it on their own.

  2. Yes, well the brief says visually impaired, so not completely blind. That makes it much easier. I guess, for further UX input regarding this issue actual users have to be consulted as it depends on the challenges they face.
