Covalent bonds (ball-stick-ball) bonds shouldn't be breakable. #8

Additional info: At present they snap back if broken upon but this is disconcerting.

David's comment: this is a consequence of the springs interacting with the rb inertia - grabbing effectively adds infinite force.

Possibly provide haptic feedback then release from attached hands when bonds are too far apart or the joint force acting upon them is high enough.

Grabbing (with hand anchoring) is always going to be problematic - it doesn't play nicely with the physics. I doubt this is easily fixable without a lot of work. I'd be inclined to make the grabbing more of a proper physics interaction - i.e. use forces as in remote grab.

Note that one can currently pull joints apart with the remote grab (to some extent - particularly when pulling on the end of a long chain).

Personally I don't think this is an issue worth investing too much effort into.
