Investigate whether using XML files or python dicts affects performance #7

It should be possible to be able to use an XML file or a python dictionary to load a photon emitter, so it should be investigated whether one method is faster than the other.

Note that it's not possible currently to use an XML file with the (new) photon emitter, so issue #13 created to set this up.
