Stack overflow when saving RoboTool project #13

Open martsi18 opened 4 years ago

martsi18 commented 4 years ago

Hi, I have encountered an error that can get quite tedious when using RoboTool. When I save my project after adding something new, I sometimes get prompted by a message warning me about a stackoverflow issue, and the message advice me to exit the workbench. The error message can be seen here: image Is this issue due to a bug in the program, or could it have anything to do with how I have built up my project?

Hi,

I haven't experienced this error. Could you give me some extra information so that I can try to debug it?

  1. versions of java, eclipse and robochart (metamodel, textual and graphical editors);
  2. the .log file for eclipse (it would be in the .metadata folder in the workspace workspace);
  3. the project if possible. (If you would prefer, you can send it directly to my email alvaro.miyazawa@york.ac.uk).

Thanks

Hi,

  1. The java version on this computer is Java(TM) SE Development Kit 13.0.1 (64-bit). Eclipse version is: Eclipse Java 2019-06. Robochart version: 1.0.0.201904021656. I am running the program on windows 10. I will send the project by E-mail. I hope that is then all the information you require. Thank you for the quick response.

Hi,

That robochart version is old. Could you try the latest version (2.0.0)? The update site for the latest version of the tool is now in https://www.cs.york.ac.uk/robostar/robotool/update/.

In this version, we have separated the plugins into different features, if you want to model in RoboChart using the graphical editor, you need:

RoboChart Ecore Modelling RoboChart Textual Editor RoboChart Graphical Editor

There are other features in the update site for the code generators for CSP, Prism, and C++, as well as plugins for derived languages (RoboSim and PhysMod).

Notice that when you load your project in the new version of the tool, the textual models will be fine, but the diagram may not be preserved. This is a limitation that we are still trying to fix, but haven't had much success. In any case, you can recreate the diagrams by expanding the rct file in the "Project explorer" while in the RoboChart (or modelling) perspective, right-clicking on the RC Package item, and selecting "New Representation > [filename].rct". This will recreate the diagram but will lose the original layout.

I have tried your project with the latest version of the tool and had to problem adding new items to the project.

Please let me know if you continue having problems.

Thanks,

Alvaro
