I have encountered several cases in which the style inheritance scheme I have in place does not serve my purposes. It needs to be redesigned. I unfortunately don't remember the specific use cases, but what I wanted was for an element to use the style from a parent, but it couldn't because the style was defined in a style sheet for a super type or something.
This really isn't enough to go in, so I'm leaving this here as a placeholder until I encounter one or more specific use cases. I'll write them down here, then then have the information I need to effect a useful design.
