currently, many coupling steps are done in a manual (and tedious and error-prone) way.

we should try to automate the procedures here when coupling SUEWS with WRFV4.

As the first step, I can mimic these steps for WRFV4, and see if it works with WRF4. Then we can write python scripts to make the changes automate. Currently, I am getting familiar with the coupling procedures.

Great! Please go through these and we can have a look together tomorrow. As the phys/module_sf_suews.F file can now be automatically generated, I suspect several steps (I marked with deprecated) might not be necessary any more.
