Great!
One thing to check is that if the land surface model (e.g., SUEWS) takes effect or not. These ideal cases usually use very simple boundary conditions (e.g. prescribed land surface temperature). That’s the tricky part we need to evaluate. I’ll respond to this issue later on once I read the actual code.
I see! It appears from the results that SUEWS correctly getting the forcing from the code and calculating the fluxes; however, I am not sure if the calculated fluxes are used as an input for the WRF-SCM. As you said, we need to read the code.
But I should note that in the defaultnamlist.input
of this model, the option of sf_surface_physics
exists which might mean that it uses land surface models.
If you read their README, you'll see the surface flux is not produced by the specified land surface module: https://github.com/wrf-model/WRF/blob/93a05b28c16fd0a2017ea9417ca61e27b4286bda/test/em_scm_xy/README.scm#L89-L95
I guess the sf_surface_physics
setting is just to provide a compatible template for the preprocessing by ideal.exe
.
After some investigation and tests, we are quit sure that we can use the couple WRF-SUEWS with SCM.
Excellent

@sunt05 I just tried to run a very very simple case (just a simple homogeneous domain) for SCM of the coupled version, and it seems it is working! Although it is a very simple case, but it seems promising.
