The current black/grid background is getting a bit old, maybe adding some green background with trees and lakes would make everything more coherent.

Added background in the form of an island

and changed the road/building colors to match the green background

Some form of ambiant occlusion might "attach" the road/buildings to the background more, but it's fine for now.
