After trying it out ourselves we did not deem the audio+visual stimuli to be too distracting. If this does end up to be the case we will most likely see that in the results of the experiment, as it could still have some sort of negative effect during the experiment that we did not notice. We decided to 'combine' the trials, as getting enough participants for multiple trials might be difficult to achieve in the scope of this project.
Greetings,
After being subjected to a very distracting stimulus, it might be hard to focus on a more subdued one. With that in mind, do you think that the interspersed audio+visual stimuli might negatively affect ability to attend to visual stimuli, thereby making this method of learning look worse?
In this situation, having separate trials for the two methods (just audio+visual learning compared to just visual learning) might reveal that audio+visual learning is not a better method, while the interspersed trial would imply that it is. Are you concerned about this possibility, and if so do you have a plan to combat it?
