I can't even enable to plugin at all

Hi i'm having an impossible time trying to simply install this plugin in the first place. 😅

I followed what the wiki said to do but when I go to check the checkbox to enable it it just gives me this massive error message and I don't understand any of it. 😥

It's been YEARS since I touched Blender and I wanted to get back into it so I could make my own MMD models. If it matters I have Blender version 2.79. Am i using the wrong version of Blender? 🤷‍♂️ I downloaded the latest version of the plugin. Did I install it incorrectly? 🤔 I clicked "install add-on from file..." which appears at the bottom of the user prefs window for me. then I selected the zip file. the wiki said it would "filter out everything else" and then all I had to do last was hit the check mark but as you can see here, much like a LOT of things in here, it's grayed out. 😵

and whenever I hit the checkmark box it just gives me the giant error message, some kind of syntax error. 😞 I have no idea how to fix it and i want to be able to have that nice little MMD sidebar tab and actually be able to use this plugin so I can actually use the models i intend to create. 🥺 I'm probably doing something wrong but im not smart enough to figure it out. 😓 thank you in advance for the help 🙏 <3
