PCL (Point Could Library) introduced by FPE in order to illustrate the possibility to automatically detect vegetation is foreseen to have many possible applications. Realize a survey of PCL in terms of possible usages, its capacities (concrete size of clouds it can manipulate, available processing algorithms, integration of semantics), its limitations as well as how it could be used in relationship with other geometry based libraries. This survey assumes that PCL is already technically "plugged in" into the building system and focuses on PCL features as a research tool for working on data.

This site gives examples of use of PCL :

It is very useful for most of "basic" needs linked to point clouds.
