Changes of this PR relative to alpha.17:

improved setting of energy bins for TMVA gamma/hadron cut training and evaluation. Bins are now defined in overlapping energy bins, which provides a 'natural' smoothing of the cut selectors
(minor epoch) dependent training and cut evaluation
removal of obsolete code
