The pre-processed data archive contains a large number of files (more than allowed in e.g., afs-style file systems) and is therefore organised in sub-directories starting with the first digit of the run numbers (e.g., run 64080.fits.gz is in ./6/64080.fits.gz.)
Added a small change to generate_index_file.py to allow generation of obs and index files for this type of directory organisation. No change in functionality if files are located in a single directory (as assumed until now).
