OpenUSD defines their own file format for describing a scene in .usda, which is compatible with the main platforms: Blender, Houdini, Unity, Nvidia's Omniverse...

It would be nice to implement a parser and writer for this file format, maybe using directly their C++ API? See: https://github.com/PixarAnimationStudios/OpenUSD
