We decided NOT to auto-bin line plots by default (see https://github.com/VEuPathDB/EdaDataService/issues/176). But, there is a concern that line plots of large studies sends lots of data to the client and binning is a way to compress the amount of data sent
If we find performance issues with large studies, we can revisit whether to auto-bin data for these large studies
We would also need to add a flag saying something like “Binning has been automatically applied due to the large number of data points”
