Map: Discuss UX around showing counts for entities where records have different sample sizes

So in the megastudy we have cases where some entities have associated with them a variable that indicates the sample size of that record. Example being the Sample entity and its specimen_count variable. This is done to accommodate both individuals and pooled samples in the same entity. In order to accurately represent things like how many female mosquitoes belong to the sample entity, well have to sum specimen_count across males and females.. Now to the ux concern. Once we do that math, we have counts that reflect specimens, but the entity is sample. How do we make clear why counts dont reflect the entity counts, and instead reflect specimens within it? possible impact to browse and subset and viz tab both id imagine.
