drafted, docs updated, still need to get tests passing. more changes were made than i originally anticipated and potentially impact work currently ongoing in correlations world, so a look before i continue might be good.

alright i went and got the tests passing now as well.

so a consequence of what i did here is that the compute plugin will now need to know whether the chosen collection is rel vs abs abund. so when im done here ill have to head over to the compute service..
