I am passionate about doing with Flutter and interested in collaborating with you as your roadmap. Please count me in. As an example, here is my medium account; I wrote many stories as a contribution to Flutter.

Hi all, I am interested in contributing as an individual. I am a profesional backend developer looking for some flutter experience

RE: Community-Driven Commercial Roadmap

Very interesting road map you have set out for VGV of driving the economics around Flutter.

There are two areas I see very little to no drive in the Flutter community. My perspective is that the community are so driven around mobile apps they overseeing these applications of Dart / Flutter

  1. Industrial use case
  2. IOT applications

I don’t see much in the roadmap addressing industrial use case nor do I see in the temples and use case about the roll that Flutter can play. The same goes for IOT that there are not may use case publicized and brought to the fore.

As Flutter are suited for such a wide range of OS the scope are open to deploy it in industry and IOT

I believe the Flutter ecosystem are well matured to start pushing into the industrial and IOT space.

Kind Regards Johan

Hi, I already had a few ideas and took the opportunity to create a list of them:

Hi all — to everyone adding comments. Thank you! We're excited to get engagement and support on this. We're going to continue to build interest and engagement both here and in other channels. Expect some follow up later in Q4. Thanks so much!

Re: Industrial and IOT

I believe there are still key components needed to make the final push and let Flutter truly bloom in these fields.

  1. Industry-Specific Interface Packages:

    • OPC UA: This is a crucial requirement for the deployment of industrial use cases. A development of an open source package to facilitate this will rapidly enhance and accelerate the development of industrial applications. Their implementation by using ffi, there are a bit more cumbersome and challenging to maintain.
    • Charts and Graphs: The existing community-driven packages are a good start, (great job done by the community so far). They need support on this to keep up the maintenance on this and grow the package.
    • Other Industrial Protocols: Besides OPC UA, other common protocols like Modbus, ProfiNet, and BACnet need to be supported for comprehensive industrial integration.
  2. Cloud Deployment Solutions: There are a need to have cloud deployment with minimal user input to get a project of the ground.

    • Minimal User Input (MVP): This is essential for rapid prototyping and deployment. The solution should handle minimum required infrastructure setup, scaling, and basic monitoring, allowing developers to focus on application logic.
    • Full-Fledged Server: Offering a server infrastructure package with all essential features like authentication, data manipulation, data base (SQL/ time series), scheduling this would provide a comprehensive platform for building complex industrial and IoT solutions.
  3. Tools for Rapid Development:

    • Industrial Monitoring and IoT Templates: These would serve as pre-built solutions that developers could customize quickly for specific use cases. Think of them as starter kits for different industry verticals
  4. Database Integration:

    • Real-time Databases: Support for real-time databases like InfluxDB is critical for industrial and IoT applications. These databases are optimized for handling high volumes of data and providing low-latency access. There are also an educational component around RTD as most Flutter dev have very little exposure to this.
  5. Education and Community:

    • Comprehensive Educational Materials: Creating detailed tutorials, workshops, and online courses specifically tailored to industrial and IoT use cases would help developers leverage Flutter effectively.
    • Industry-Specific Meetups and Events: Organizing events that focus on industrial and IoT applications with Flutter would foster knowledge sharing and build a stronger community.
    • Collaboration with Industry Experts: Partnering with industrial and IoT specialists can bring valuable insights and real-world use case examples, driving the adoption of Flutter in these fields.

Conclusion:

The Flutter community needs to focus on these key components to unlock the true potential of Flutter in industrial and IoT applications. The collaborative effort highlighted by VGV is essential to achieve this goal. By working together, we can make Flutter a powerful and versatile platform for building cutting-edge industrial and IoT solutions.

I'll be happy to contribute to the commercial roadmap as well. I'll contribute as part of my small startup "emotely" and will advocate at formigas, the company I work at to contribute as well. Personally, I think I can best contribute to the "Confidence" goal. At formigas we most likely can support best in "Capability" and "Community".

I'm interested in contributing to the community as an individual Flutter developer. It would also be beneficial for the community to integrate payment gateways from Latin America, such as MercadoPago, PayU, and Culqi, into Flutter. This could encourage more companies in Latin America to adopt Flutter instead of native solutions.

As a Flutter consultancy company from Belgium, we would like to contribute to the commercial roadmap: www.unlockd.be

I would love to get involve in this effort. Since using flutter in 2016 when it was in early phase and seeing its growth today, I still feel there is so much to do within USA to grow flutter community.

In this effort I am organizing meetup group here in San Francisco, being the center of Tech it's really hard to find flutter community in SF.

If anyone here is from Bay Area, I would encourage them to join Flutter San Francisco in meetup
