I'm not sure that this is actually a bug. I don't think the blood reagent changes anything about the actual blood itself, just the reagent that is metabolised to replenish the blood.
Yeah, blood reagent doesn't change your physical blood reagent, it merely changes what's needed to restore it when you've lost a lot of it.

As an aside: replacing your "blood" wholesale is much, much more involved, which is why I haven't touched it. Plus it would be possible to do silly things like extract silver/gold from people, solidify it with certain other reagents, and effectively produce free materials for cargo or science. Not that I expect anyone to do that, but it would be possible and very silly.
I have a character with their blood reagent set to slimejelly, but when I take a sample with a syringe, it comes out as regular blood. I haven't tested this very thoroughly, so it might be something else.
