I'm always frustrated when [...] Players tend to express betrayal and dissatisfaction when previous game patterns are broken: we encourage them to open doors near the start, only to tell them no later on with other doors.

Describe the solution you'd like A clear and concise description of what you want to happen. Doors that aren't part of the intended cleaning routine might benefit from removal. These are particularly doors connecting to the adjacent suites. Always consider an object's purpose. If the game object is not intended to be interacted with or doesn't serve to provide a more complete game experience, it probably shouldn't be there.

Describe alternatives you've considered A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered. Remove the doors. The blueprint will need adjustments to re-seal doorways, but it seems to be in the best interest of the player to not distract or deceive them from the habits they've established early on in the simulation.
