`editor.action.smartSelect.expand` doesn't affect VIM selection

Describe the bug The editor.action.smartSelect.expand command doesn't appear to affect VIM selection. After selecting more than one line, d, y, etc only applied to the original cursor position, not entire selection.

To Reproduce

Create selection using editor.action.smartSelect.expand that spans multiple lines
Press d

Expected behavior All selected text deleted.

Observed behavior Selection is dropped, cursor is at its original position.
