Auto-Update doesn't install in Custom Installation Folder #2036

Open JVormstein opened 1 month ago

Describe the bug This is kinda a luxury problem, but it still breaks my vscode installation. When clicking on the update button within vscode it seems to start updating the application. My VSCode is installed on another drive. So the updater downloads and installs VSCode in the Default-Windows Location, but it somehow doesn't manage to install it completely. This results in the Shortcut link (the little thing you click on in the start menu) to VSCode not beeing linked to anything, since the updater only installs some folder and the uninstaller in the Default Location, but not VSCode, not in the Default Location or in the Custom Location.

Please confirm that this problem is VSCodium-specific

Please confirm that the issue/resolution isn't already documented

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Click on update
  2. Close VSCode
  3. Try to start it again

Expected behavior Start the updated VSCode (but starts nothing)

Desktop (please complete the following information):

Additional context Exists since auto-updates are available
