Move set_bounds to mixin and add extra bounds to slot creation #249

I will look at the merge conflicts soon-ish, but I want to mention btw that I don’t have permissions to merge them anyway, since I am not a collaborator.

It is a bit difficult to see the actual changes when you have a lot of formatting changes, so maybe be conservative when you use a formatter. We could use black for the whole project, but the gain is probably not worth the effort and hassle.
