Register as "opener/viewer" for .kdb files #294

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
As far as I understand, Android OS is not aware of the fact that Keepassdroid
can open .kdb files but there is a mechanism to let Android OS know about it.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android 4 (ICS)

Please provide any additional information below.

What application are you trying to use to open a .kdb file? KeePassDroid works
to open files in general.

Some applications have a different way of asking for an opener/viewer.

:(

It's broken for me on Ice Cream Sandwich. Tried to open a .kdb file with Astro
File Manager, but it says there's no app associated with it. I have
KeePassDroid 1.9.9 installed on the phone, and it can open the same file all
right if I select it from within KeePassDroid.

I'd also like to be able to associate my own new extension, so I can hide the
filetype from a someone browsing my DropBox account. That is, I'd like to
rename my password database "childhood.pix" and associate .pix with KeePass.

Astro will let me create new filetype associations - but KeePass doesn't appear
to register a mime type.

I have this problem too. Keepassdroid isn't registered for opening .kdb files

With all apps at the most recent version, it works from me from Google Drive
and Astro File Manager. It also works from the OI File Manager, but it kinda
cheats, because it offers me to open the file with every single installed app.

I'm having the same problem. I use Skydrive to get the file and when I tap the
file, it says "Sorry, there are no apps installed that can open this type of
file". it doesn't work either with .kdb or .kdbx.
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 3.0.8-perf
KeepassDroid version: 1.9.18.3

I have the same issue.

I use SkyDrive also and get "Sorry, there are no apps installed that can open
this type of file". In the default file manager I get the same error. Only ES
File Explorer opens kdb files with KeepassDroid.

Android version: 4.2.1
Kernel: 3.0.62
KeepassDroid version: 1.99.6
