can't open remote DBs via URL #76

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Unless I'm missing something, it seems that the functionality to open a web
based DB was not ported over.
Thanks

Including this feature makes a lot of sense; we need to sync data much more
these days.

While working this out it would be great to include sftp , scp , ftps similar
to the IOProtocolExt Plugin.

+1 from me too. 'Native' sftp , scp , ftps (and http, ftp) is very welcome.

+1 from me too. We want to not have the DB on the phone for security reasons.

+1, I really need the sftp functionality included in KeePassDroid..
We don't want to keep the db on the phone..

@comment 7 and comment 8: Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but how is the
db *not* on the phone if you're using keepassdroid?

Additionally, as far as I'm concerned, if the encryption works as designed and
you have a very long, well crafted password, then it shouldn't matter where the
db is stored.

Since you cannot write db files with this app, then I understand the need to
have a centralized, net accessible location for your db file. Having the
ability to open a file via URL (or another secure, non-http protocol) would be
a big plus, but the lack of it isn't a security issue, IMO.

Brian, support for reading the DB via https is essential for me.
Are you planning to add this functionality?

I have keepass DB's on the web as well, and would appreciate being able to open
them by URL. It is not essential to be able to save.

for anybody who is looking for this feature as I was: I just discovered
Keepass2Android
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=keepass2android.keepass2android)
which has many of the features requested here, also the ability to read/write
files on WebDAV/FTP servers. Maybe someone else is interested in this as well!

Keepass2Android works wonderfully so far and I can get at my db via https.
Exactly what I've been needing for several years.
So long keepassandroid...
Welcome keepass2android...
THANK YOU for letting us know...

Personally I don't like this feature, if it makes KeePassDroid need network
access.
In my opinion, KeePassDroid should NOT have network access for security
reasons. File-Sync should be managed by users, not the password manager.

Attachment is the current permission requested by KeePassDroid. I don't think
adding a "Network communication" in the list is a good idea.

When I try to open local kdb on KitKat, the "open folder" icon shows Google
Drive. I try to open the file but there is no selection... I don't know if this
is a KitKat bug. Thank you in advance.
