Any hints on how to proceed or what I should be looking out for? I have tried editing the picture, converting it to text and unzipping it. Is some prerequisite knowledge required to solve it?

Aah good job putting in the effort. You don't require a lot of prerequisite knowledge but you will have to do a good amount of googling if you have not come across such a challenge before (which I believe would be the case with most first years).

I'll give ya a hint. There is literally a secret message (like a text message) inside that image and you, as a human will not be able to work out what the message is.
