Stop looking and wait for a day if you still having problems report back, there
is no need to yell and scream every time service goes down in the middle of the
night. And remember ICQ part of AOL and AOL is the US company, and servers are
in US not in Europe.

"And remember ICQ part of AOL and AOL is the US company"
Well, not any more, DST bought ICQ few months ago. So now icq is not part of
aol.
And sometimes you can't wait for a day, connection needed immediately.

From the buying announcement to actual purchase long time passes (it's not like
buying cheese int he store), usually around a year, sometimes more. That kind
of purchases are a subject to regulatory approval (from governments of 2
countries in this case). And governments work slow. After all the government
approvals received, deal need to be voted on the full shareholder meeting as
AOL is the public company. Management actually does not have the right to sell
any part of the company, they do not own any of it. After that the actual
purchase occurs and the transition period starts. So what have been signed so
far is only letter of intentions, nothing more, ICQ is still AOL owned.

If you that high requirements, you need to use official client, not 3rd party
software.

I hope that ICQ will block alternative clients so often, that finally those few
remaining contacts I have there will start using some other protocol and I
could finally get rid of this ICQ s... forever. Altogether with those "russion
girls for sex" spam

Solution in comment 9 also requires that you uncheck "Secure (MD5) login" and
then click "Default" next to server adress and port (if the checkbox was
checked).

Miranda becomes online when I added above mentioned icq.dll ( of version
0.3.9.6 as it shows when mouse hovers on icq.dll file) - added new protocol in
my version Miranda 0.9.9 and that protocol is online

Just replacing icq.dll with old one didn't work: miranda crashed. So I kept
both, with different names.

Mine is 32bit version.

I changed my dll by dll from comment #9. It asked me for login and password.
Then I restarted my (0.9.8) miranda and nothing happend, miranda does not start
anymore.
I went to icq.com and change my password, just in case of some spyware.

No need to switch back to old icq.dll. Easier fix: Go to "Connection settings"
and uncheck the "Secure connection (SSL)", that should do it. Works for me and
0.9.9.

I guess either something happened to slogin.oscar.aol.com or AOL changed SSL
protocol. Anyway, it would be good to have the secure connection working
again...

To FIX SSL connection:
keep your latest ICQ.dll (from 0.9.8 or 0.9.9) -- no need to replace it with
old version;
set server address to slogin.icq.com and port to 443.

I did not do anything and I got connection (issue 1111 merged here).
It looks, problem was somewhere on ICQ servers only.
I hope, ICQ will not interrupt our alternative connections.
