can't be "away" on google talk

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add a Google Talk account.
2. Sign in with it.
3. Set status to Away or N/A.

What is the expected result?
Have status set to either away or idle in gmail or google+ chat module.

What happens instead?
Status becomes available at the places mentioned.
