HC shut down when external 8bitdo pro2 controller is turned off #843

Hello, I am using HC on win 11 with an 8bitdo pro2 gamepad to use the gyroscope in games, HC works fine, but when I turn off the gamepad, HC turns off and the next time I turn on the gamepad I have to open the program again. Is it possible to make the program work all the time?

Hey @Buzz9191 sounds like HC has trouble handling the disconnection of the controller. The 8bitdo pro 2 controller is not one we have tested ourselves, so thanks for providing feedback.

Can you share the HC logfile from the day/time this happens. Logfiles can be found in programfiles/handheldcompanion/logs

Here I turned the controller on and off a couple times, after each shutdown I had to start the HC again. HandheldCompanion-20231123.log

I don't see a crash in the log, but the last thing that is stated is indeed the disconnection.

I see you are running the latest public 0.18. Quite a bit of rework and adjustments have been made to the controller management in the mean time in the code. I recommend you wait until an update is available to see if the problem persists.

@Buzz9191 may I ask you if you still have this problem with the latest HC (0.20.3.0)?

Chiming in to say that I have this problem with my official switch pro controller, and whenever the program crashes I need to restart my system to open it again. I'm on rog ally and I've attached a crash dump. HandheldCompanion.exe.5252.zip
