Crashing during loading #116

Closed teddybee-r closed 7 years ago

teddybee-r commented 8 years ago

The game crashes a lot after switching to vulkan. It runs way better with vulkan though. These crashes only occur during loading and it doesn't matter if its the normal map or custom games. I regularly crash during load 2-5 times in a row This seems to happen only using borderless fullscreen. After switching to exclusive fullscreen I have almost no crashes during load.

This also happens to my friend who runs an AMD card. I can get his system specs if it helps.

I also will always crash using suicide with Techies arcana. But I haven't checked if that is exclusive to vulkan.

If you are able to gather any CrashIDs or dumps related to this issue, please include them with this issue report.

dmrwebsite commented 8 years ago

@Ispyy dumps are located in program files(x86)/steam/dumps

teddybee-r commented 8 years ago

Ok thanks. I was searching in the dota folder. The location should be included on the main page. http://seven7y.space/dota2/dumps.zip 20 dumps total. Some might be related to the Techies arcana but I can't recall which one.

teddybee-r commented 8 years ago

I got new crash logs I could upload if that helps. Just now my game crashed trying to load in and now the game just validates itself for 20min. I already did that a few days ago without fixing anything.

It's almost always the case that the game crashes a few times in a row when I try to reconnect. I also get more timeouts when the heroes are being loaded into the game.

admshao commented 8 years ago

I can tell I had very similar crash issues liek OP described using vulkan on nvidia-367 on Linux, switching back to 364 just did the trick for me tho. Maybe this info is useful.

justSQL commented 8 years ago

I just crashed during loading to a ranked All Pick game. Don't know if i should create a separate issue but for now i'll just use this one.

+1 for intel + nvidia + ubuntu for me. Just as a workaround, downgrade to 364 drivers. Rock solid stable for says without a single crash On Jun 4, 2016 12:29 PM, "Matteo Tessarotto" notifications@github.com wrote:

I updated to the new 367.27 nvidia driver and it seems to works now. I just tried a couple of time but it didn't crash both times. Waiting for someone else to test this :+1:

crashes on loading. no notification crash_dota2.exe_20160701003053_1.zip

danginsburg commented 8 years ago

@dzg345 can you provide any further repro instructions for your crash? I looked at the crash dump and I can see that it happens because we are dereferencing a nullptr for the Scaleform HAL. If I could repro this I can likely figure out what is happening. Running with -con_logfile and providing game/dota/console.log when the crash occurs may also provide a clue.

Kazeshinu commented 8 years ago

I'll start doing that. And see if I can get it to crash. I think it's when I'm tabbed out. But I'll add that command tomorrow! Den 1 jul 2016 15:17 skrev "Dan Ginsburg" notifications@github.com:

Same problem. First game loads without any issues, then 2nd will always crash on Vulkan. Here are some logs attached: dumps.zip

Same here on Kubuntu 16.10 amd64, tried with both vanilla, oibaf, and padoka amdgpu drivers.

teddybee-r commented 7 years ago

C'mon there is a 100% crash every time I join a second game. How has this not been fixed yet. I can even spectate a game and know the next join will crash.

kisak-valve commented 7 years ago

The 7.00 update has substantially changed the client. If anyone is still experiencing crashes during loading, please open a new issue report with a copy your system information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and any CrashIDs or minidump (.dmp) files related to the crash.
