[Linux] Playing in Fullscreen Mode Changes Screen Resolution Upon Exiting the Game #366

Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Hello,

A lot of the time when I exit Dota 2 after playing in Fullscreen Mode, the game changes my desktop's screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels.

I'd never encountered anything like this problem years ago when I last played the game (I just built a new PC and have been starting to get back into Dota 2). I don't think I have this issue with any other games in my Steam library.

It's especially problematic because after the screen resolution switches, I don't see an option in my OS's system settings to change back to my monitor's native resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels, 60 Hertz). For some reason it shows pretty much every other screen resolution except for mine.

To return it back to 1920 x 1080, I have to do a full system restart. It's a pain to have to do this every time I just want to play a game of Dota 2. Obviously this shouldn't be happening, and I wonder if others have experienced this problem.

Please let me know if I can offer any more information about the issue. And in the meantime, if this is a known problem, I'd be happy to learn about any workarounds.

Thanks!

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Start Dota 2 with the video already set to Fullscreen Mode (1920 x 1080 pixels, 60 Hertz resolution) in the game's settings.
  2. Play normally, the screen resolution remains fine.
  3. Exit Dota 2, and the screen resolution on the desktop switches to 1024 x 768 pixels.
