[LINUX] Stuttering\low framerate, despite in-game fps counter showing stable 60+ frames #1318

Open 1Genera1 opened 7 years ago

1Genera1 commented 7 years ago

Dota 2 on Linux Mint stutters like crazy, FPS is in 15-20 range, regardless of settings, despite in-game FPS counter showing 60+. CPU and GPU temps are around 60 degrees, I've disabled Steam overlay. Any ideas?

Does this occur when watching a replay? When playing a locally-hosted bot game?

1Genera1 commented 7 years ago

It happens while watching both live games and replays and in demo hero mode (which is locally hosted, I cannot check a full bot game right now)

Can you also post console output?

admshao commented 7 years ago

Hey, from what i can tell from memory, closing the game and opennning again fix it reliably.

I have the same issue. Arch Linux, steam-native, -vulkan -high startup parameters. After 10-30 minutes of the game, there is a weird stuttering issue on the display. Workaround now is to exit the [ALT]-[F4} and then restart Dota 2.

RichMartel commented 6 years ago

Forgot to mention I'm running Nvidia 387.34 drivers, it's Arch so everything is pretty up-to-date (which could be the problem?).

RichMartel commented 6 years ago

Not 100% sure this is fixed, but a new minor update to the nvidia driver today seemed to fix this issue. I used to have to close out of dota 1 or 2 times a game, but I just played 2 games with no stuttering.

This appears to happen after the game window loses focus.

I've had luck with enabling the "Desktop-friendly fullscreen minimizes on focus loss" option, and keeping it on desktop friendly mode.

It doesn't happen all the time, and the only way to stop the stuttering after it starts is to relaunch.
