[Linux] freeze happen time to time #1320

Hey, since a long time i have some freeze( probably 20 everygame maybe more depending on how much i fight), i don't really now why, my game don't respond at all ( 1sec or less ) for more than a year from now even with new gpu and vulkan on ( i tried a fresh install, different drivers, ... ).

This happen most of the time in teamfight. i have a game where this happen to me and note it ( MatchID 3447223762 ) You can clearly see my mouse don't responde at all so my hero stand there waiting something to happen, i played TA and this happen at 1min46 of the game. ( watch perspective player ).

The match was the 16/09/2017 at 12h32 and i have nothing in my syslog at this time ( +/- 10min).

If you look at the game's console output during times you see the freeze does it show anything?

This is all i have in my console at the end of 1 game, nothing is reccurent and still have multiple freezes during this one!

Happen every game every 30sec ... rly annoying to play like this :-1:

I don't think there's anything new. Generally when there's progress they'll post something here.

I also notice this when I use an ability for the first time or when a hero uses it for the first time on-screen. Doesn't make the game unplayable but definitely gives you a disadvantage in fights, especially early in the game.

Seems to me like this happens when animations are loaded on-the-fly or possibly loaded from swap back into memory or something of the sort. It also seems more prominent on "big flashy" animations, compared to the more mundane ones.

It won't happen again for the same animation once it has been played at least one time, in my experience - which again would indicate a "loading on the fly" or "swapping back into memory" sort of problem instead of something like "low memory" or "poor GPU / CPU".

Same thing happens for me. Suttering when an ability is used for the first time on screen.

To reproduce, I reboot, start demo mode with any champ, then use an ability with a big animation or lots of effects.

I tried with 384 and 387 drivers and the issue still exists. It also just started recently although I have no idea what the trigger was.

Ubuntu 16.04 i5 2310, GTX 1060 6GB (387 drivers), 8GB RAM.

@tukkek @cluoma This happen more than once, even if abilities were already used ( happen me in early, mid and end of the game ).

@gdrewb-valve Ok we've got some good and bad news. this bug seem to be corrected with this update - http://www.dota2.com/news/updates/34478/ -

So i guess the issue was about the network from what we can see from my log ( their is a lot of error related to the network in console )

But now the game is laggy, no freezes but lags ( it's like a loss of fps )

Hey got some news about this bug !!!

I'll say it's fixed no more lags when playin' ( i used an ethernet cable ). Looks like the new systeme works great but playin under wifi is still laggy (before even under cable the game froze like hell not anymore). I play some other games ( csgo/tf2 ) where their is no bug/lags underwifi/cable.
