Dota 2 Linux crash on launch #2512

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Dota 2 will not launch, with and without compatibility layer. Dota was working last night, but not today. I did a complete system update, but the issue persists. Pressing the "Play" button, steam attempts to launch the application, but crashes before any window apprears. When launching native, it crashes and gives the following output, something about a Segmentation Fault... Terminal Output When launching with proton, I get a memory access violation. (Didn't save logs, let me know if you want them)

I don't get any issues with any of my other games, it seems specific to Dota 2, and affects both Native and Proton.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Be me.
  2. Launch steam-runtime or steam from the console to see outputs.
  3. Login to steam account.
  4. Press "Play" on the Dota 2 game.
  5. The game crashes on launch and writes the previously mentioned errors to the console.

As of the 4th October, this issue is still present.

I am having the same issue with my ATI setup when I run Wayland session that is normal these days. It started yesterday evening after dota update for me. I tried to run Dota on my Nvidia setup on another computer to check if its specific to ATI. Nvidia hangs after startup when I get menu screen and doesn't respond to mouse thought the mouse moves.

X11 session also crashes for me but later than Wayland kind of like how Nvidia does.

Same.

Tried pretty much everything at this point with still no luck. Launch options, reinstalling and changing drivers, flatpak steam, disabling shader caching, checking library dependencies, cross referencing with someone whose dota launches correctly (my system can't get to the libmaterialsystem2.so stage). IDK

Seems to be similar issue to #2528 , same dmesg outputs too.
