[Mac] Sorting user chatrooms by number of members crashes the client #862

Open hipunk opened 8 years ago

hipunk commented 8 years ago

How to reproduce: When in the main menu, try to join a chat channel/lobby, go to the "user" tab and try to sort by count of members, by clicking on the members column. The client immediately crashes.

This bug is pretty old already. If I remember it correctly, it already got introduced with the 6.86 patch.

Current system this still occurs on: Mac OS X 10.11.4 AMD Radeon HD 7870 Intel quad core i5 Latest Steam (stable or beta) Latest Dota client (in the Dota 2 Test client this does NOT happen anymore, but I'm still reporting it, because that's how it is currently)

Awesome! You fixed it! Great work - and so quick!

Thank you!

hipunk commented 8 years ago

Ahh shucks, for some reason it now crashes again. I thought the last update fixed it (and it did! It really worked one time!), but it didn't.

It still crashes on me.

I am currently looking for crash logs in Console.app, but I cannot find anything. Where are the crash logs located? I am willing to help here, but how?!

gdrewb-valve commented 8 years ago

If you look in the system information in the Steam client (under the Help menu) hopefully it'll list some failure reports that weren't discarded. I can look at those and see where the crash is.

Closing pending more info.

How was this fixed exactly? Problem still persists for me.

gdrewb-valve commented 7 years ago

It wasn't fixed, it was closed because we couldn't repro here and had requested more info and never got a response. If you have crash IDs we can try and investigate.

justinnn9 commented 7 years ago

What would you need from me? I checked out the system info from Steam client (under Help menu), I do not think it lists any failure or crash reports as it only reports specifications of my computer; CPU, Vid Card, Memory, etc.

gdrewb-valve commented 7 years ago

If there aren't any failure reports then Dota didn't encounter any problems that it was able to catch. This usually means a problem in system software, such as OpenGL. We'll leave this open but until we get more concrete info on what's happening we won't be able to investigate.

Still happens & no crash logs in the help menu. 😂
