Low camera when playing on a laptop with a resolution of 1920x1080 #15430

Description

I apologize if there are mistakes somewhere, I wrote this text with the help of a translator. I want Valve to finally solve the problem with the camera range on monitors with different resolutions. I'm playing on a laptop with a 1920x1080 60Hz monitor (16:9). It would seem that everything should be fine, but not with the viewing range of the camera, which just rests on the floor. Due to the fact that the developers cannot optimize the game, it becomes impossible to play it. According to Valve, Dota 2 came out of beta in 2013 (lol), but at the same time it still has such a huge optimization problem. A small indie company cannot optimize a game that ranks top in popularity. Just look at the screenshots that I attached to the post and see the difference. Screenshots with Slark and TB show what the camera distance should look like (I know that the screenshots are old, but the essence does not change from this). I really like this game, but how to play it when the only thing you see is your hero, it becomes impossible.

These are my thoughts, but why can't Valve, for example, do this - there are certain monitor resolutions, let's say starting from 1920x1080 (16:9) (maybe less) and ending with the resolution that you have for 2024 to optimize so that whatever monitor you don't have, everything is the same for everyone. Dear Valve developers make sure that the game is honest for everyone, block cheaters like Overplus, thank them for this, no one will now look through a closed profile and ban your hero and write your winrate. But here's the problem, because of the resolution of the monitor, people see differently, the larger your screen size, the greater the camera's view. Shouldn't that be considered dishonest? The screenshot with the invoker shows an example of the viewing range with a UWHD monitor of 2560×1080 (21:9) or an old screenshot with a line. Valve says we make dota fair and equal for everyone, but this is a banal pay 2 win. The guy with the big monitor is sitting and has the advantage, and you sit and don't see anything. If you want to make the game equal and fair for everyone, in addition to exterminating cheaters, make sure that everything is the same for everyone.

All they need to do, is to create camera setting, that allows you to change camera distance. Just like FOV in other games. Current setting of 1200 is absolutely uncomfort to play it have to be minimum 1400.

For other players with default 16:9 aspect ratio 27inch monitors or 15inch laptops it feels perfectly fine.

Ah, poor cheaters. cry me a river. "can't see an enemy from a mile away, gg!" so sad...

Dude is literally crying and asking about zoom-out after Valve killed this abuse with changing\redacting game file (client.dll) after latest update with cheats bans. Get f..ed! Console command dota_camera_distance (which value you changing by redacting client.dll file btw) is considered as a cheat for a reason and changing this value is not allowed in ranked or classic casual matchmaking. Otherwise, if this were allowed, then devs could have implement a slider with "Camera Distance" option in the game settings a long time ago. But they didn't. And don't tell me about 21+:9 aspect ratio, pretty sure that's not even 2% (if not less, probably less) of the Dota players (most of them still using 16:9\10). If you want to try 21:9 aspect ration and you have a big monitor or tv, then try out, change its aspect ratio with custom resolution in your gpu software and in game settings. rip your neck... /btw, all official gaming\cybersport competitions use monitors with an aspect ratio of 16:9 as a default. Anyway it's a bug tracker and this is not an issue. If you would like to discuss this or suggest something to devs, then feel free to start a thread on reddit (r/DotA2) or make it in Discussions section.

SpiritWinD86 First of all - .!. Aggression on aggression. And since you called me a cheater who modifies a dll file, then you probably have evidence (oh yes, there is none). If I were a cheater, I would already be sitting with a Vac-ban and would not be writing here ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT HAS EXISTED FOR MANY YEARS. I used to be a PC user, but recently I had to switch to a laptop. And I know what I'm writing about. If this were not a PROBLEM, then people would not have written about it on forums since at least 2016 (the same screenshot from lina, where there is a comparison of the viewing range on different monitors, was made even before the reborn update). It's very convenient for you to equate the wave of bans on February 9th with a problem that has been going on for so many years, you idiot. Considering that I wrote on this topic even before all the recent events on reddit, in discussions on steam, and even in support, which advised me to write to github

Even the ReaperOK commentator agrees with me. As I have already written, it is not normal that because of the different resolutions of the monitors, someone sees more, someone less. Everyone should see the same thing regardless of the monitor. For some reason, the range of the camera in the screenshots seems to be higher, although in fact nothing is visible in the game itself. If it wasn't a problem, no one would write about it year after year. And it's very stupid of you to write to me that I'm crying because I don't see the enemy. What a fucking asshole you are if you don't see the obvious in front of you, read this comment and reread this post again, and then go and twist the pigs' tails, redneck
