Unable to join game almost 70% of times after Accepting to join. #17942

Description

After Confirming the game, I am unable to join game I joins but in the hero selection area I never see heros and it takes me back to the home screen with a time panalty. it happened First time after the update, I have i5 PC with 8 GB RAM and 512GB SSD with 128bit Graphic card of Radeon.

Example Match ID (and possibly Timestamp)

xxxxx : since 5 hours before creating issue

I have the same #17897. I thought that these were my problems and had already bought additional RAM (it didn't help). Thanks to Calve.

попробуйте- только эти параметры запуска -novid -high -vulkan -prrwarn -map dota и ещё установить vulkan support в дополнительном контенте

How does setting it to vulkan fix the issue? Sounds more like a workaround.

same problem. i only played 2 match with more than 5 times of this problem occuring after act 2. and even in game it was laggy sometimes.

got 2 hour matchmaking penality. i fear i might get lp or week long penalty.

Same problem 3 games 6 failed also all 3 of these games I have been able to connect it has had 2-3 return to MM as someone else has failed to connect.

I also have this problem on any server I try to find matches on! After update 7.36 I was only able to play one game, always disconnecting during the heroes phase! Now I have two hours to wait. I've tried different ways and nothing. Nao consigo mais conectar

Same issue. I hope that the next update will fix this and that we won't get low priority or a lowered behaviour score because of this...

This also happens to me, so I started gathering data.

  1. This occurs when queueing online game, such as Turbo, Co-op Bot, or even Custom Lobby. Local games not affected.
  2. In Co-op Bot Mode timeout happens, but at least it won't give penalty time. No timeout in solo Bot.
  3. In Custom Lobby, starting a single-person lobby using valve server (Singapore) results in timeout. Not happening in local host server.
  4. Tested with friends on Co-op Bot Mode. Actual time for me to connect to game is around 30-40 seconds, which is way beyond timeout.

I observed the console, and will put relevant data here.

This isn't specific to Windows, and probably not specific to DirectX, since it's also happening in Linux with Vulkan. Also, I've seen both ATI and NVIDIA users report similar problem.

Sometimes it will load. I managed to play 2 matches yesterday (with a lot of failures and timeout waiting time in between).

Still not fixed. For anyone experiencing this, please do try this to gather data:

  1. Start a custom lobby. Just one person is fine.
  2. Use valve's server like Singapore (not local server) on the lobby setting.
  3. Start the game.

If you still get timeout and the game won't start (don't worry, no penalty), do this

  1. Start a custom lobby like before.
  2. Use local server instead.
  3. Start the game
  4. Wait until pick phase. You should be able to connect since there won't be timeout.
  5. Check on console for something like this:

I think (still uncertain) it shows how long it takes for you to connect. Please post that console log here to check everyone's actual time to connect. This should be at least useful data and facts to at least have Valve increase the timeout allowed.

28 is still too long for remote servers I believe, but it seemed close. Maybe at 25 you get in? So for me this doesn't seem to work quite yet, but it might for others.

brother ive 8gb ram and gtx680 graphic card i just set my video setting in dota to very low and uncheck everything like Portrait and vsync and stuff like that just set everything on low and try to create online lobby again inshallah it will do for you

Got into one game today, everything was still weird when connecting. The next game however took some time them it showed the custom lobby choose sides for 2 secs and DC. (This was ranked roles)

Updating driver works, I have NVIDIA graphics. Those who suggests switch Vulcan leads to switching/updating drivers, but it requires Vulcan DLC which is deprecated. So if you already deleted the DLC switching to Vulcan does nothing.

Uninstalled graphic driver on AMD 580rx and downloaded it again (drivers were up to date but this might still help), also uncecked the "highend hud" or something along the lines in the settings and no failed connections after

Hello, i had this same issue since the patch. The thing that solved the problem for me (since i couldnt update my gpu driver) was deleting all of the custom games. try it yourselves

Yes, games like "custom hero chaos" and "dota run". I unnistalled them on the "arcade" tab in-game

updating all my windows drivers and Nvidia driver helped resolving this issue. launch options -high -useallavailablecores

I think I have got it fixed for me by updating my NVIDIA graphics card driver. Connection times for Local Lobbies are way down to 2 seconds on both min/max graphics settings from 28/39 seconds before the driver update. Gonna try an actual game now. Edit: I'm in guys! Updating the graphic driver fixed it for me.
