Matchmaking makes no sense sometimes #7842

Description

I am currently ranked high divine and I play as Support, I usually find games instantly or very fast, there seem to be a lack of support players, because very often you get insane matchmaking with Ancient players and they are just pure garbage.

The lack of support players shouldn't punish support players to match us with lower rank. I'll rather wait 20 min for a match than play with these people.

Example Match ID (and possibly Timestamp)

Dota is designed to keep you at 50% winrate. In order for you to loose you will be given bad teammates. The skill to skill match-up was removed years ago. now its combination of new + skilled players for pub matches. This is one of the reason smurf and account buyers wont get ban either and neither reports will have an effect on them. The ban wave is mostly for those who are found to be using third party software to have an advantage.

For instance find this match id and you will find 3 ancient and 2 smurf being matched with all herald, guardian team. Just because system wanted sniper too loose as his win-rate was more then 50%. This is how system will punish you.

Dota 2_2023 04 04-16 33_1

Therefore, neither you can play in party and think you can get out of 50% rule and nor you can play solo to avoid it.

if your queue is instant, it means you'll have to try harder to win. because someone in game took longer than 10 min to find a match, lack of players with certain roles / time of day.. bad behaviour / smurf with high winrate etc.

like this match few months ago, 2 archons with divine player lol image e.g. 24 min que, cant find other divine players so your team will be worse (archons) then vs someone in the middle average maybe? not sure why we get the ancient 5 instead of the ancient 2 from the other team, but im guessing the average divided between core roles and support roles. e.g. 2 archons + 1 divine vs 3 legends, then ancient 5 + legend 4 vs 2 ancients (highest + lowest medals vs average maybe)

Matchmaking is the process of matching two or more people together, usually for the purpose of marriage, in which case the matchmaker is also known as a marriage broker. The word is also used in the context of sporting events such as boxing, in business, in online video games and in pairing organ donors.
