Program hangs/lags at start of ban/hero pick phase #8

Only started happening recently. When I start a game, and it goes into the hero picks for ban phase, I am unable to select or click on anything for the first 5-10 seconds as the timer goes down, making it almost impossible to select anything to ban in time.

can you validate your game files, and then see if issue persists? right click on game on side bar in steam and select properties, then click this image

This happens because your system cannot load the assets necessary for the pick screen in time. Some solutions to this are:

  1. Make sure you DON'T have this launch option: -noprewarm
  2. Open an empty custom lobby once on the first launch of the game before queueing into a match.
  3. Use an SSD and 16GB dual-channel RAM. This is not a must as its not possible for everyone, but can help.

appreciate the suggestions, but i do not believe they apply here.

  1. have verified the integrity of the game files, they were fine.
  2. this was not always happening on this computer, and it is not old.
  3. i am not using the -noprewarm command
  4. game is on an SSD, i have 32 GB of dual-channel RAM
  5. this happens on every game, this isnt a "it only happens on the first game"
  6. another oddity i've noticed when this started happening (debating whether it should be its own case here), is that the game is also now sluggish to close. what happens is when i close the game, i actually see an image of the last match, at some point of game state (like an image 5 minutes before the end of the match), like a frozen screen shot of the past game, then eventually closes. i really have no idea what that is about. because i've changed nothing and it just started happening too.

I have actually experienced this too. Not recently, at least not since I started playing on a new laptop. I'm afraid I don't know what's causing it then. Sorry I couldn't help further.
