King's Bounty: The Legend, Crossworlds (25900 63910) #1073

Open mlassnig opened 6 years ago

mlassnig commented 6 years ago

All three King's Bounty Games (as packaged in the Platinum Edition [6121] ) work perfectly out of the box.

The only thing I noticed was that if you put the Shadows to High, then there's a remarkable FPS drop (from consistent vsync'd 60fps down to ~30-35fps), though I have no idea if that would happen on other OSes as well.

-- Specs: Debian 9.5 (Linux 4.17), GTX970, Nvidia 396.54, Proton 3.7-5b

King's Bounty: Crossworlds works for me as well, have not tested the other ones. I had some problems with the mouse pointer disappearing, but it seems to be related to synergy (mouse and keyboard sharing software). If I moved the mouse to the synergy host computer, the mouse pointer was OK.

Specs: Ubuntu 18.04, GTX 1070, Nvidia 396, Proton 3.7-4

osirix7 commented 6 years ago

Very low performance in the game 15 fps, in battle < 10fps. Ubuntu 18.04, GTX 1060, Nvidia 396.54, Proton 3.7-5beta

Rataxes commented 6 years ago

Not really playable on Ubuntu 18.04, GTX 960, Nvidia 396.54, Proton 3.7-6, due to very low fps < 10.

King's Bounty: Armored princess crashes every time when I try to enter Mirror Tower on Elon Island otherwise it works perfectly

I opened new issue for this https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1580

ziabice commented 5 years ago

Tested King's Bounty: The Legend using Proton 3.16-8 Beta, the game runs perfectly out of the box, but FPS were very low making it unplayable. So I tried changing all settings from high to low, or changed resolution, but nothing affected performance. Tested also using PROTON_NO_ESYNC option, without luck, the performance was the same (bad).

I tested the game also under Wine-staging-nine 4.1 and the performance was identical to Proton, still unplayable. Activating Gallium Nine made the game run very smooth, in the order of hundreds of FPS, absolutely a joy to play.

I noticed also that fonts using Proton weren't antialised, instead with vanilla Wine they are.

from this serie also Northern Warriors with Ice & Fire DLC worked quite well. steam id is 203350

to launch game i had to add set cl_menu3d 0 in game.ini (same trick as in crossworlds)

there were occasional freezings during combat, when it happened i had to force quit proton using dialog alert button and restart combat again from last save. also sometimes quicksave caused freeze when i pressed F5 just after getting into new location. I don't know if this happens also in windows.

but after i got used to frequent saving i was able to finish game successfully

This issue's title references 3 titles, but mentions only 2 of the Steam AppID. The one for the King's Bounty: Armored Princess is missing.

@mlassnig or any other person with enough admin rights: please add 3170 to the title as well.

kisak-valve commented 4 years ago

Hello @mikkovedru, King's Bounty: Armored Princess was intentionally removed from this issue's title when we got a separate issue report with an indication that the game behaved differently from the other titles in the series, and is being tracked at #1580. I've adjusted the title to make this a bit more clear.

So whilst the game works well (so far ~6 hours in) the FPS sucks if I don't use D9VK, but with D9VK the reflections are a bit screwy: 20200128192203_1

I don't see any other people stating this on either ProtonDB or here.

AMD 5700 XT (with and without ACO) using latest mesa-git from Arch Linux's mesa-git 3rd party repo.

EDIT: This is fixed in this DXVK commit: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/commit/1abacc947c9a08b5a723aba33fab33b9352bf12a

I've found that King's Bounty: Legend works fairly well out-of-the-box. I have Radeon RX 5700 XT on Ubuntu 20.04, I may have some extra packages/versions as I toyed with Kisak Mesa PPA on Ubuntu 19.10, but right now it should be more or less stock Ubuntu. I've found one weirdness though. Under Wayland rotating the map (the game area, not the minimap) using the middle mouse button does not work. There is no such problem under non-Wayland Ubuntu. Any thoughts what could make MMB does not work under Wayland?

RussianNeuroMancer commented 4 years ago

@HanFox did you tried it with GalliumNine? @ziabice mentioned it solved performance issues for him.

The Legend runs great with default settings on the Deck. The only issue I have is the ocean rendering strangely. 20230204090621_1

I cannot make the King's Bounty: Crossworlds work with Proton 8.0-4. Steam shows the game as running but nothing appears. I have Ubuntu 20.04 with GTX 1050 and 535 drivers. I did add setf ~cl_menu3d 0 to game.ini and tried other Proton versions but no luck.
