Same issue with Metal Slug (366250) and Metal Slug 2 (366260), there's no separate issue for these (yet).

Issue still exists on Proton 6.3-8 and current Proton Experimental. Adding PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to launch options fixes issue with error messages on startup. Tested only with Metal Slug 3.

Games launches to a black window using Proton 7.0-6, 8.0-2 and Experimental (2023/05/05) while the background audio keeps playing.

@ranplayer I am unable to reproduce your issue. If you delete your prefix, which should be something similar to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/250180 and then try again on Proton 8.0-2, does it still fail? There are occasional issues when upgrading Proton versions so I want to rule out that possibility for you.

Verifying the integrity of your files may also work here.

I took a log myself and compared it to the one you posted. I'm not getting the lines Kisak-valve mentioned, so it is likely those lines are what is indicating the issue.

Hello, folks... sorry for the late reply. I had installed it with a clean prefix at that time. I've just reinstalled the game and now it works normally with Proton 8.0-2. I think it might have been solved by a steam-runtime or graphics driver update.
