Steps to reproduce

Version of Proton : 3.7-5 Beta and 3.7-3 (with 3.7-3 you don't see the error message) Steam system info - Portable Acer.txt

Trantor-Rutine commented 6 years ago

Apart from the problem with the saved games the game runs flawlessly with Proton 3.7-5 Beta. I have played more than 10h these days without any other issue.

there's a workaround for the save game issue found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/203630/discussions/0/1735462352505472693/

Trantor-Rutine commented 5 years ago

I can confirm that the workaround works, thanks for pointing it, I couldn't find anything on my first research about it. The game still continues to work flawlessly with the latest version of Proton. It even has the same visual bugs that the original had

just posting this for anyone who doesnt want to dig through that thread:

Open the warlock game folder, delete the home folder inside it, then open the warlock game folder in a terminal and type:

ln -s /home home

that's it. now your saves will work.

I did a random retest of this game with a clean install with Proton 6.3-7 and save files appeared to work without applying a workaround.

Warlock - Master of the Arcane (203630) - switching away causes mouse input issues

Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5514. @Mastnosis posted on 2022-01-25T03:47:48:

Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

Symptoms

Game loads up fine and as long as you do not switch away and come back there seems to be few if any issues. But after switching away when you come back you can click some game elements such as HUD, but you cannot interact with the map or units on the map. Issue is sometimes intermittent.

Reproduction

Launch Warlock and start a game. You should be able to click on units and move as normal. Switch away from the game and then switch back. You should still be able to click on HUD items like menus, side notifications, however when you will not be able to select a unit by clicking and if a unit is already selected the mouse will not update the pathing or allow interacting with other objects on the map.

Tested on AMD laptop with Vega 10 as well as desktop using Nvidia GTX 760 and later AMD RX 6600 Arch Linux and Manjaro KDE on X11 and Wayland Gnome on X11 and Wayland XFCE tried with and without PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 i.e. openGL and Vulkan

Some further information regarding the mouse bug mentioned above which might be helpful to diagnose the issue. I recently started playing the game in windowed mode. What I have noticed is that as long as you use the mouse to switch focus between applications there are no issues. But if you use the keyboard ALT+TAB to switch then you immediately run into this issue. Sometimes it seems you can recover, but I don't know a guaranteed way to do so. Usually I have to completely exit the game and relaunch in order to resolve it.

Another issue with the game is that you can no longer chat in the overlay. You can bring up the overlay but it won't allow you to type in the chat window, hence the need to task switch frequently. This didn't use to be the case so something changed in the last year or so to cause the issue though i don't recall exactly when it started.
