Symptoms

• My.com Launcher fails to detect that Steam is running and will not start the game.
• My.com Launcher randomly gets stuck on logging in

Reproduction

1. Install game
2. Run from Steam, launcher starts
3. Wait until launcher finished updating…
4. Wait until launcher finally manages to log you in (may get stuck here)
5. Launcher presents Message "Steam must be running to play the game."

Question - is there a Lutris install script / have you tried installing Wine Steam and running the game from there? It might detect and run then.

There is no Lutris script available. (At least neither their DB nor Google come up with anything.) Trying Wine Steam may take a while, re-downloading the game and its updates alone takes me nearly a full 24h.

I just wonder - how do these applications usually detect whether Steam is running?

Okay, I finally came around to try the Wine Steam approach. I couldn't get it to run either, the game launcher doesn't even launch itself properly. (Take this with a pinch of salt, my Wine-Fu is nearly nonexistent.)
