Symptoms

1st problem: Taking a screenshot makes the game permanently dark until its restart.

2nd problem: The mouse cursor is invisible when Steam overlay is open.

3rd problem: The mouse cursor is invisible when alt-tabbed to desktop.

Reproduction

1st problem: Launch the game, use the key to take a screenshot in Steam (default F12). The game will become dark after that.

2nd problem: Launch the game. Press Shift+Tab to open Steam overlay. The mouse cursor will be invisible while the overlay is active.

3rd problem: Launch the game. Press Alt+Tab to switch to desktop. The mouse cursor will be invisible while alt-tabbed.

After finishing the game I discovered that after the screen gets dark because of taking a screenshot, you can alt-tab to desktop and back to game to fix the brightness. Making another screenshot will again darken the game.

I am unable to reproduce these issues with Proton 6.3-5 and the current Proton Experimental. After ~15 minutes of play I've observed no issues with this game.

I retested the old issues on Proton 6.3-5 and indeed they are gone now, so thanks for that!

A new issue appeared on that version of Proton, where the game would often freeze if I was moving my mouse around the screen. It can be reproduced on the starting place in the dock, especially when seagulls arrive in the upper right of the screen. However this problem is fixed after switching to Proton Experimental.

With Proton 6.3-8, the boiler which controls the giant tree on Myst island has a pressure needle which should be able to move slowly depending on how it is controlled with the flame control wheel. It appears there is a rounding issue or a playback issue of that needle moving slowly. This isn't a blocker since you can still progress in the game using what I'm guessing is greater than 50% heat on the boiler control, and looking away to unstuck the tree.
