I also have this problem, using the GoG version running through Lutris. I will edit my details in this comment when I get home. Seems that this is more an issue with Dawn of Man and not specifically with Proton.

uname: Linux 5.3.5-zen1-1-zen #1 ZEN SMP PREEMPT Mon Oct 7 19:03:07 UTC 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux os: Arch x86_64 CPU: Intel i7-6700K (8) @ 4.200GHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti RAM: 16 GB Proton version: 4.11-6

@TontonSancho @bloodsplatter: what window manager are you using?

I found this issue when searching for similar issue with alt-tab in My Time at Portia.

ProtonDB comment:

Alt-Tabbing/switching desktops causes the keyboard to no longer input to the game, having to restart the game by killing the process seems to be the only fix. Might be specific to my WM - Cinnamon. Otherwise runs perfect.

I have the exact same issue, and I'm running Cinnamon. NVIDIA GeForce as well.

This could be wider than a single game issue.

OnikenX commented 4 years ago

I have the same issue in Lutris playing the GOG version of Cuphead and multiple other games, I don't think this is only a proton issue.

aw-was-here commented 4 years ago

Dawn of Man used to work great for me. Tried it again recently and now Steam+Proton has the keyboard problem for me as well. It doesn't work on launch at all, no Alt-Tab required.

playeronlinux commented 4 years ago

@aw-was-here & @OnikenX: what WM (Window Manager) are you using?

FWIW, non-Steam Subnautica played via Lutris also seems to stop accepting input after alt-tab (#79 is the issue for Subnautica).

OnikenX commented 4 years ago

@playeronlinux plasma, i have the same issue with subnatica in the epicstore playing from lutris with its own build of wine

playeronlinux commented 4 years ago

Thanks for the reply! Interesting that this seems to be affecting a lot of NVIDIA users across different games, window managers and wine versions.

OnikenX commented 4 years ago

@playeronlinux I'm not a NVIDIA user thou, only AMD or Intel graphics

aw-was-here commented 4 years ago

@playeronlinux Not any NVidia in my rig. System Report. But probably a bit exotic: AMD Threadripper 1920 + 64 GB RAM + AMD RX580 + Xfwm4.

Running Subnautica through Wine on KDE Plasma, with Arch and an Intel Iris Xe, this problem still exists years later.

Running Football Manager (2022/2023/2024) on my laptop and the issue still happen I'm using Wayland with an Nvidia MX250 on Manjaro Gnome. No hope to have this resolved soon ? :(

EDIT : It happen on Proton 8 (at least), same on Multiple Proton GE 8.X versions
