Compatibility Report

System Information

I confirm:

======================

======================

steam-795510.log

Symptoms

Game falls into a endless loading after pressing Start Game on the main menu. You can see the Loading logo spinning but nothing happens. Worked well with Proton 3.7-8.

Reproduction

Dont have another PC with Steamplay to test. Tested with 3.7-8 it works fine with that version of Proton.

Seems this uses Steam2.dll:

11990.643:0027:0028:warn:module:load_builtin_dll cannot open .so lib for builtin L"Steam2.dll": /home/edwin/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton 4.2/dist/lib/wine/steam2.dll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And it uses Quartz:

11995.919:0027:0028:trace:module:load_dll looking for L"C:\\windows\\system32\\quartz.dll" in L"C:\\windows\\system32;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam;C:\\windows\\system32;C:\\windows\\system;C:\\windows;.;C:\\windows\\system32;C:\\windows;C:\\windows\\system32\\wbem"

The game appears to be repeatedly hitting warn:debugstr:OutputDebugStringA "AutoSaveCore failed\n".

Game is still not working with spinning logo on Proton 5.03!

The game when run on the Steam Deck has an issue where certain in-game elements don't display properly and cause some inconsistencies when playing the game in Proton and can break the game in a couple of instances. The issue seems to stem from whenever a cut-in animation occurs -- specifically, it doesn't occur at all when run in Proton and the game will attempt to continue on like nothing happened. There's two things that cause the animations to play in-game:

Issue is probably due to whatever method they used to store the animations for the cut-ins not playing nice with Proton, but it doesn't even play the typical test pattern effect you see on unsupported videos, it just completely eats it.

Attached is a Proton log from running the game on the Steam Deck, the Steam Deck system details and videos showing the difference (as it's not something that can really be shown in a single screenshot, and it's two separate videos due to Github size upload limits). Issue occurs both in the current stable version of Proton and in Experimental.

Checking protondb, apparently the issues are still present with proton 8.0-3 and presumably 8.0-5. Someone also fixed it by using protontricks to manually install mf and quartz

Problem is still present as of latest nightly, the videos in the gallery also seem to be borked, you click on them to watch and they don't even try for a second before dumping you back to the gallery menu.
