This is the first message I see before the game close again.
This message is related to the Steam (Native) on ArchLinux. The game starts if I use the Steam (Runtime).
@dragonfly-lover I don't have the game to test it, but the issues seems very similar with what happens in the Bioshock games. Have you tried with: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% ?
Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 (592580) - no lighting in game
Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1357. @carzacc posted on 2018-09-09T14:11:13:
The menus work perfectly but it's unplayable because there is no lighting when a game is started, like in the following screenshots
As you can see, there are light sources, but they don't actually light the scene.
Switching to 396.54.04 solved for me. By my side this bug report Can be closed.

Hello @caiodev, your issue is most likely due to mesa/Intel/Ivybridge's incomplete vulkan support. You may have better results with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
in the game's launch options.
Separately, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
to the game's launch options and drag and drop the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log into the comment box.
I had this problem, and in my case it was solved by installing the AMDVLK driver (from the git repo). Used to play pes 2018 and 2019 with this setup but now they do not even start.
My problem was fixed with the latest version of Proton. It now runs decently and is playable on my system.
P.S. It might not be the latest, certainly a very recent one, I've been checking once every month or so.
Under some configurations, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 has problems with textures. During a match, textures are so terribly faded that it's very hard to distinguish players of my team from players of the opposite. I posted this problem on reddit in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamPlay/comments/99hd20/pro_evolution_soccer_2018_faded_texures/
a screenshot is here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1489656038 Note that the problem affects only the polygons of the match, 'cause menus and bitmaps are not affected. Trying to switch from/to High-Medium-Low detail can attenuate the effect a bit but doesn't solve.
As other people using the same nvidia driver does report a normal working, it may be that this can be a (precompiled?) shader problem?
